Roadsters/Twin Cities was first formed in October of 1969 and formally organized July 1, 1970.
The club is limited to 25 members in the Minneapolis-St. Paul and suburban area who are each required to own a currently licensed, insured and operable pre-1949 open car. Our theme is "DRIVE 'EM!"
Mid-October of each year the Roadsters host a traditional automotive Swap Meet, considered by many to be one of the best in the upper Midwest; but bring a warm jacket, gloves and a hat as we stretch the relatively short Minnesota season as far as we can.
In addition, we plan several rod runs throughout the year giving members the opportunity to "Drive-em". We attend various local events as well as NSRA and Goodguys national events, and the Minnesota Street Rod Association's Back to the 50's. In 2004, several of our memebers drove their roadsters to the famed Los Angeles Roadsters Show.
For over 38 years the Roadsters have also awarded the prestigious annual Silver Hacksaw Award. This trophy is given to a non-member individual who has built and drives a pre-1949 closed car of what we consider to be superb style and quality. If they chose to use the "Hacksaw" to make it an open car, it would be perfect.
Average membership in the Roadsters Twin Cities is over 16 Years including two founding members of the Minnesota Street Rod Association. We've been around long enough to know that the real fun is in the drive. So look for us at events around the Midwest - we love to talk ROADSTERS. But remember, you gotta "DRIVE 'EM!"
